I have heard some things about Beowulf from last years juniors. They all said it was crap. And I can understand that because I have read some and it was very hard to get interested in the story. I don't really know what is going on yet because I have only read two pages, but hopefully it gets better. I really do not think it will.
Hopefully it is possible to write an interesting poem. I really don't think that it is. So that already makes this book seem bad to me without even reading some of it. But the back says that it has dragons and monsters and a hero, and that sounds like it might be okay if it were written today, not 1000 years ago, or however long ago it was written. I think it is going to be worse than colonial literature, but I hope it is better.

Well, I already typed out my comment, but it was deleted when I had to create a Google acount. That's really discouraging. I sat here and wrote out a bunch of stuff, and they just deleted it all. That pisses me off. It doesn't help that I'm tired and that I've done nothing but homework all day. What I essentially said was that Jack told me that the book was Ok so far. I'll also said that it wouldn't be a classic piece of literature if it didn't have some redeeming quality. And they are making a movie out of it. I do hope that the book is good for our sake.
You know by now what I think about talking to other people. Think for yourself. If you want, look at the handbook from my kids, but talking to others that didn't have me is a further problem. Finally, again, just experience for yourself. You can't expect to identify with 1000 year old lit, so don't think of it that way.
Cameron- sorry that happened to you. Sometimes, backing out of it, you can at least copy and paste it later. Don't say pissed.
i dont think the book is that bad, i mean its not torture like the scarlet letter was but i understand what u mean wen u say its not the most interesting thing. atleast its not hard to read.
