CT Tales Questions Changes
Now that all of the lessons have happened in my class, I have changed my ideas on some of the answers I wrote. For example, I learned that the Miller's tale characterizes the miller more than I realized. At first, I wrote is that all the tale shows is that the miller is a low class peasant. I now know that it also shows that he is a vulgar person and also a very dirty person. Also, during the class discussion, I learned that the frame narrative other than making the story more interesting, gives Chaucer a way to comment on things without himself coming out and saying it. Lastly, I learned after the Pardoner's presentation how much the author hates the church. Before the presentation, I thought that his dislike was just for the upper class clergy members, but this tale showed how he disliked the lower class church officials as well. He makes the pardoner out to be a huge hypocrite, which further shows his dislike of all of the clergy.
